Trey

Aubrey Bryan Smith III, known as Trey, is a Jackson, Mississippi native and University of Mississippi alumnus who graduated in 1996 with bachelor's degrees in History and Political Science. He went on to attend Mississippi College School of Law while simultaneously serving as a law clerk to Mississippi's 61st Governor, Kirk Fordice, researching and briefing legal issues related to the Governor's legislative and policy agendas. That early experience at the intersection of law and public policy laid the foundation for a distinguished litigation career.

Since beginning his practice in 2000, Trey has built nearly 25 years of experience successfully litigating medical malpractice claims involving wrongful death, permanent injuries, medication errors, and birth injuries. He is licensed to practice in all federal and state courts in Mississippi and brings a deep knowledge of the state's legal landscape to every case he handles.

About

Trey Smith brings a rare and invaluable perspective to medical malpractice litigation. He spent the first sixteen years of his career defending hospitals, clinics, physicians, nurses, and other healthcare providers against malpractice claims, giving him an insider's understanding of how defense teams build and argue their cases. In 2016, he transitioned his practice to representing individuals injured by medical negligence, and that experience on both sides of the courtroom has made him a uniquely formidable advocate for his clients.

Beyond litigation, Mr. Smith has assisted healthcare clients with the development of internal policies and procedures, employee contracts, insurance disputes, and general business negotiations, reflecting a comprehensive command of the healthcare industry that extends well beyond the courtroom.

Mr. Smith is a member of the Mississippi Bar Association, the American Bar Association, the Mississippi Defense Lawyers Association, the Federal Bar Association, the Defense Research Institute, and the Mississippi Oil and Gas Lawyers Association. He serves on Mississippi Bar Committees for Health Law and Natural Resources, Environment and Energy, the latter of which he chaired in 2013.
