Jackson Propyl Bromide Litigation

Our team has a reputation for success in recovering compensation for damage caused by overexposure to toxic chemicals. For example, we recently recovered a $9.9 million verdict against parties that had exposed our clients to propyl bromide. Propyl bromide, also known as 1-bromopropane or n-propyl bromide, is a chemical that has been used extensively in the furniture industry as a spray adhesive and in the industrial cleaning industry as a degreasing solvent and metal cleaner.

Some trade names of the products that contain 1-bromopropane and are used as degreasers for industrial cleaning, and may be in adhesives used in furniture manufacturing, are as follows:

  • Hypersolve
  • ABZOL
  • Lenium
  • Contact Cleaner – NPB Heavy Duty
  • No Flash Nu Electro Cleaner
  • Heavy Duty Degreaser II
  • 1640 Bulk
  • Whisper Spray (Imperial Adhesive)
  • Fire retardant Soft Seam 640 (Mid South Adhesive)

When improperly used, propyl bromide can cause serious physical damage to the central nervous system and the reproductive system. Further, 1-bromopropane has been shown to cause extensive skin and/or eye irritation, and multi-organ damage, including liver and kidney damage. It can enter the body if swallowed or if it comes into contact with the skin, and also if the vapor is breathed in. If the hands are contaminated, it can be swallowed following hand to mouth contact.

If you or someone you know has been exposed to 1-bromopropane (or sometimes referred to as simply bromopropane or propyl bromide), or another toxic chemical, you may experience one or more of the following symptoms:

  • Headaches/dizziness
  • Nausea
  • Feeling of being drunk/high
  • Numbness
  • Tingling or loss of sensation in extremities
  • Memory loss
  • Laryngitis
  • Peeling skin
  • Unable to walk/ataxic gait
  • Perineal numbness/vaginal numbness

You do not have to suffer in silence — we are here to help.
